~My Son Tyler~

I just had the rare pleasure,
of putting makeup on my son.
Oh my God,
what have I gone and done.

What did I do,
that was so wrong.
To have a child,
that is so headstrong.

He wears all black,
he's into the gothic scene.
He doesn't have a bone,
in his body that is mean.

He's a good kid,
gets good grades in school.
Thinks that kids that do drugs,
are just way to uncool.

He wears his hair long,
on one side of his head.
The other side is shaved bald,
enough said.

People might think that,
he looks like a freak.
His Dad and I think,
 he is just being unique.

He has a style,
that is all his own.
The girls must like it,
they never leave him alone.

What am I going to do,
he's only 14 years old.
Already girl crazy,
and very bold.

Tracy, your son seem to be a fine young man....one that is just expressing himself....I know there are gothic kids that are not so nice, but in every crowd you have those that are not so nice.......but I don't think you have anything to worry about for he seems like a normal teen........just expressing himself, just being Tyler....btw like that name! Great write, as always.

I don't see anything wrong with dressing gothic
as long as it is just a means of expression of
dress and style. It sounds like his is a caring and
fine young man in every other way and that is what
matters most. Very nice poem Tracy.
