Dear Becca

I sit here with my thoughts not sure what to say

It has been so very long since you went away

Sometimes I have to force myself along

Still find it hard to accept you’re really gone

Sitting on the grass of your final place of rest

I hope you always know you really was the best

Wondering if you’re still watching over me

Helping me when I am too blind to see

I have the most beautiful fiancée now

She’s so pretty you’d just say wow

And I just want to shout it out loud

I know that you’d really be proud

I think you’d really like her Becca

She’s so strong with a big heart

The only imperfect thing so far

Is how far we are apart.

Mum and Dad don’t talk much

When it comes to you

I know they loved you so much

I guess talking is hard to do

The one thing so very deep inside

That really does strike at me

Is I didn’t lose a cousin

A Sister you’ll always be

So I’ve come to talk to you now

To tell you about my soon to be wife

And how much I wish we could swap

So that you could have had my life

I do love my girl so much

But I miss you so much too

I know she’d be ok in life

If I’d died instead of you

I know you’d tell me Becca

Not to think that way

And the way to honour you

Is to live my life today

I’m going to go now Becca

Sorry it’s been a while

I miss you ever day girl

I wish I could see you smile

Author's Notes:

Rebecca wasn't just a cousin to me she was my best friend and a sister too, She never had an easy life but for the short amount of time she lived with our family we was as close as family could be. Rebecca got me into trouble sometimes but she'd always be the first to defend me and she gave me some very happy memories.

Sometimes I just want to swap with her and give her the chance to live that was taken away when she was just 13. I miss her so very much and it has never gotten any easier to let her go. All I can do is hope she is happy where ever she is.

R.I.P Rebecca always missed, never forgotten.

What a beautiful dedication to your cousin/sister. She is watching over you from Heaven, and I'm sure she is happy about you and Michelle. Just as I am.
