The President's Own, The Few, The Proud

United States Marine...

I'm just an ordinary man in the Lord's eyes

So, what does this title mean?

13 weeks of Hell, then add 6 months of detailed training

Plus, on the job experience which to many would seem draining

A rifleman; if I can see you, rest assure - you're dead

A strong body and mind to coincide with what puts me ahead

When America's against the wall, I'll the be the first to answer the call

Do what I've got to do, and leave victoriously standing tall...

Back at home, I am a father, husband, and a well-known writer

But out here, I am a leader, Patriot, and an unforgiving fighter

My actions during these trying times, may not reflect immediately

But what I do has direct effects on making our freedom free

It is up to me to set the standard, so my image must be clean

I am not just in an army, I'm a United States Marine.

I have love and fear for different things, I'm just like any other

But when duty calls and it's time to die, I shall die beside my brother

Because I don't run away, I'm not afraid to go with purpose

So, into the fight I go, never questioning if it's worth it

As a role model to America, I've accepted the ultimate fate

All I ask is that my people understand, and truly appreciate...

Freedom shall only be free

When true heroes prevail

Always faithful - Semper Fi

Together, we shall never fail...

Author's Notes:
From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine...

If the Army and the Navy ever looked on Heaven's scenes
They will find the streets are gaurded by United States Marine's...
