The Kiss Series~The Passionless Kiss

The Passionless Kiss

‘I’m leaving now’ he yelled from the door

She stood there in silence, looking at the floor

He didn’t come toward her, she didn’t make a move

Funny how passion drifts, no love for each to prove

He waited for her to come to him, she wished he just would leave

Then finally, they both gave in and performed this duty

No pleasure, no passion, no hot wet tongue

Just dry, unmoving lips, pressed one to one

No tight body snuggle, no warm and tender embrace

Just cold empty beings, only pretending in this case

Then quickly it was over and quickly it had passed

He swiftly slipped out the door without a second glance

She shuffled slowly back to bed, her hair and face a mess

Both shrugged off the morning, neither one could care less

Each of them not sorry, just letting cold set in

Just fleshly sterile hearts, turned noticeably to tin

I intentionally saved this one for last, fully expecting it to be a masterwork - and I wasn't disappointed.  Such a painful yet real experience - felt deep in the soul.  I love the last line....Just fleshly sterile hearts, turned noticeably to tin...wow.

Unfortunately, this is the way love goes far to often. I love the poem, but not the content--if that makes sense--I hope it does to you, because it does to me.

I lived this kiss, a long time ago. How sadly it can come to this...how sadly.
Your kisses show of life and love and also too, of settling and pretending.
Excllent series. Simply excellent. ~Pam :f

A passionless kiss is kind of like a performer without an audience, a conductor without an orchestra, or a thirst without a drink. I hope that passion always remains for you Cindy.... Excellent write......Paul

Very well written Cindy, you took me from the heights of the passionate kiss then plummeted me down to earth with this one. An excellent way of depicting the highs and lows in a relationship. Great work Cindy. Have a very happy holiday season and a very happy new year. Henry
