Meal Ticket.
I hear not birds sing morning flutesjust the rumble of my long lost youth.I see not pathways of flowing treesjust to remind me where I've once been.I hear not laughter on bitter streetsinside the houses the scared now seek.Lost happiness has grown with scarshow far we've come this pathways hard.Too live our lives grow old and greywatch our memories being sold this way.Trees were plenty we laughed for freenow time has changed there money trees.I hear not birds sing morning flutesI see not pathways on bitter streets.I hear not laughter from young and oldhow I now envy my memories sold.

We may grow old and gray, but I cherish the memories. The mental pictures are almost always better in the long run anyway. Nice write. jp
