Essential Breath

The point of the pen pressed
on the virgin paper

 Dark breathing ink that comes
alive with her name,
 he must savors

Letters become words
and words become poems

 Poems become love letters
that have been written,
 passion born

His eyes now see what his heart
is trying to feel

She becomes  the new
spring green leaves ,
 can she be real

Leaving behind winters
cold bitter uncaring death

With new life and loves hope
with each essential breath
