Words of Fire, Writ in Heart’s Blood, Over Surface of Water

Words of Fire, Writ in Heart’s Blood, Over Surface of Water

(“Is it that the ages engulf us and remember us not

Save as a name upon a page writ in water in place of ink?”*

                                                                    Kahlil Gibran)

Words of fire

Written with heart’s blood

Over the surface of water

Are mine…

Words of nameless desire

Burning with inner fire,

Craving

Longing

Are the names

Seen through the flames…

The flames are thine

The names are mine…

Words dipped in heart’s blood

Colour of fire

Flames of life entire

Melt my soul

Set my heart on fire…

The fires are thine

The ashes are mine…

Words of love

Melt,

Words of passion

Consume,

Tinged with compassion

Exhume,

Mysteries of past assume

An endless dimension…

The heart is mine

The blood is thine…

The words of heart’s blood

With flames; afire

Writ on surface of water:

Float

Smudge

Get washed off

Fade

Disappear

Quench

-Cool

 --Shiver

---On the surface of water

----Float away…

(((Sink)))

(((((Ripples)))))

(((((Circle around)))))

((((((Grow bigger and bigger))))))

F…a…d…e

...D...i...s...a...p...p...e...a...r...

The streams are thine

The sinking is mine

Words of fire

Writ in heart’s blood

On the surface of water:

Float

Quench

Fade

Disappear

Sink

(Never to be retrieved again)

While,

I,

Stand on the shores of Time

Watch

Stare

Despair…**

*From “Letters of Fire”, inspired by John Keats’ Epitaph:

“Here lies one whose name was writ in water!”

                                                              John Keats

**Invitation: I invite all my friends to express in a couplet their anguish over their words being lost on the shores (in the sands) of Time:
Older ones might be tinged with remorse,
Younger ones with rays of hope,
While some might be thankful to Time
For bringing (realizing) their dreams up close...

I truly like the layout of this poem. The way you have it laid out with some of it in bold letters and others in parenthesis for the rippled affect. I think tha you did a wonderful job on it. I am trying to say that I really enjoyed this one to Zoya.

Yes indeed. A truly beautiful write. Each line building to the next with color, then decending to a ripple. The color and form of the poem add to the effectiveness. jp

I agree with Fletch Great flow and rhythm I also like the use of colored fonts to accent each phrase so that it stands on its own. Almost ee cummings like.
