If A Tree Falls..

Obligatory good mornings greet yet
another day of solitary confinement for both,
shuffling in on roots that have never tasted
the sweet air between soil and heaven.
The compulsory, just an axe,
to chisel a hole in the tension of morning.

Throughout the day, the crack and groan
of a tree that falls is never heard;
the reserve absorbing the crash,
routines running  course, never altered.

Stump still protrudes from where the seed established,
roots still buried full tilt, but trunk lay broken, and
longing, for even the tiniest of breezes,
or a miniscule chance to speak with the sky again.

Obligatory good nights precede the ritual
of turning down blankets and last insults.
Reverberation of crash echoing only in
the embracing ears of darkness
and in the branches that kissed the florest floor.

Ya know Writelady, maybe you are a muse. When relationships tumble we rarely hear the creaks and groans til they're on the gound. This is poetry, well done . jp

longing, for even the tiniest of breezes,

I don'y know why exactly but thse lines just broke my heart.
As a tree lover I cannot bear to see them ever chopped down and there is just so much sadness and hopelessness in this poem Barbie.
Beauitifully and painfully written.

Now what you need is a visit from old stormy with two fish suppers and a few bottles of sparkling wine. We would soon put the world to rights!!!

A thoughtful write...with a wonderful parallel written within. Hearts break soundlessly too Barbie...just ask me!

Deep thoughts that I can't joke about like all the others. Love this girfriend!

May I suggest a slight bit of editing? "Reverberation of crash echoing only"...perhaps, "Reverberation of the crash echos only" Just a thought, what do you think?

If this is what you churn out when your muse has departed, DANG! I can't wait to see what is going to emerge when she returns!
GREAT job...

Try lavander, it's supposed to calm and relax the soul. If that doesn't work then kick and scream like a child.
