Untitled as of yet...

"Shadow of my former self,
turned over a brand new leaf, why, I'm a brand new man.
I gave up drinkin to be with her,
stay home and hold her hand."

"He used to go out pert near e'ery Saturday night,
cussin and carousin with them there Poke boys.
But yesirreee, he sits home and watches Andy Griffith with me now.
Don't think he misses it a bit; do ya Honey?"

Adjusting suspender straps..
"Well, now them Poke boys were a heap of fun,
but I reckon I have just as much here with you Rosey."

"Aw  Del, you say the sweetest things," she blushes.
"Would you like me to get you some coffee, ma'am?"

Yes, that would be really nice, thank you.
She rises, smoothes down her dress and apron,
and heads toward the kitchen.
I hear her rattling around in there.

"You see uh, June, well, she's got this old timer's thing going on,"
You mean Alzheimer's? I interrupted.
"Yea, that's it. Doc Farley says it'll never get no better.
I got to thinking about all the times I had left her,
things I shoulda did and said; felt sorrier for myself at that point.
Made up my mind that I was gonna change, yesiree,
be the man I used to be.
Now, why she's happier than a pig in a poke I tell ya,
and I feel better too."

Rosey returns.
"Del, where did you put the Folger's?
It ain't where it should be."

"I'll be right back."
He gives me a knowing wink, and they disappear into the kitchen.
This old farmhouse must be well over eighty years old. Still has the faded wallpaper from
maybe the forties..I scribble some more on my notepad, and wait for their return...

Author's Notes:
Really not sure where I'm going with this, but thinking about making it into a short story of, as someone doing research on the disease within different time frames, I said, not sure. Anyhow, let me know your thoughts..thanks.

I think it is working Barbie. I had a little trouble following who was narrating, but that could just be me. I think you have a great story here.
