A Poet's Retreat

I'm opening a little place,
for tired poets to retreat;
just a place to get away,
and park your weary feet.

Just let me know when you're coming,
I'll have your room all ready,
Pay no mind to the man in the closet,
It's just my Uncle Freddy!

Your linens all just freshly washed,
there's no cooking or dishes to do;
you can get some peace and quiet,
book a room at my little zoo!

You can eat your breakfast at leisure,
but the cook she leaves at six;
oh and if it's  summer when you come,
be sure and check your head for ticks.

Plenty of hot water here,
soak til you haven't a care;
the towels might be a bit rough though,
I hang them outside to air!

You can  take a walk, or read a book,
or listen to mourning doves call,
but please pay no attention to
the neighbors' noise coming through the wall!

Now there's a crystal candy dish,
I keep it filled with M&M's.
Just help yourself whenever you wish,
at every chocolate whim!

So let me take a reservation,
do you need a room in May?
I'm open every day of the week,
so pack a bag and stay!

Sounds like a nice place! All the comforts a weary poet can possibly think of - topped with M&Ms! ;-) Very sweet morning silliness writelady! ;-)

Well this certainly sounds like a great place to stay and judging by the comments here it looks like it's booking up fast! I have to ask Barbie, do you serve Melons for breakfast? I just can't get my day started without them. Loved this poem Barbie, it was a great read. Henry

This is fantastic Barbie. I'll be needing a room with a king size bed though, three or four women at a time, ya know! LOL! Please make the reservation for five, LOL! Joe

I can see from the reservation requests below that I want in with the group. May I retire and stay full time? This was a fun read.

Sounds just like the kind of place
I was looking for
A warm welcome on the mat
And a little something more.

I'll be coming down in April,
Don't go to any trouble -
And if there are no singles to be had
I'm happy with a double!
