Widow's Watch

Hush now morn!
Be late today,
for my love she is still sleeping!
I want no sunrise upon her face,
to wake her and see my weeping!

She's laid to rest in Morgan's Field,
I've marked her place full well;
and everynight I come to her,
and sit with her a spell.

We ramble about the day that passed,
and plan for what comes next;
the villagers now avoid me,
they believe me to be hexed.

They scoff, "Who lies among the rotting flowers?"
"Who counts stars with a heart now  dust?"
They have no inkling, no brave belief,
but I do, and so, I must.

So would they be, if they were me,
still captivated by your charm,
afterall, what is there left, I ask,
and what can be the harm?

For my arms no longer hold you,
and my lips have turned to blue,
and the ache that trembles within my heart,
proves my love for you tis true.

I cannot stop the morning,
damn the sun, it rises high!
Rest thee now, and until later,
for I shall never say goodbye.

B, this is so sad. A person going through the rest of their life alone, without their loved one by their side, is very heartbreaking. *S* Wind Whisperer

What a beautiful, heart rending poem this is Barbie, you have spun a great tale of love, devotion and mourning in these words. This turned out excellent Barbie! Henry

I like this one Barbie, and think that is exactly how I would feel if something should happen to my wife. She is (to me anyway) one of a kind--and to me is all that matters. I really enjoyed this write very much.
