Thump, thump

A heart is beating, strong, rhythmic and true
In the womb of a Mother , life begins anew
Thump, thump it sounds, boy or girl
Will they brave the challenges life will hurl

Faster still beats the heart
The birth is done, let life now start
Thump, thump the heart beats faster yet
Baby girl's first steps you won't forget

Just push the pedals and you will fly
How fast the years are going by
Thump, thump the heart quickens again
You fell off the bike, get right back on again

The years go by at a faster rate
She's going on her very first date
Thump, thump my God she's driving a car
If she had a rocket she would soar to a star

Look at her wearing the cap and gown
Wearing a smile, no room for a frown
Thump, thump she'll be off to college soon
Go for it all honey, shoot for the moon

From the little girl to fledgling adult
We hope to see a successful result
Thump, thump don't still this beating heart
It has loved her from the very start

Author's Notes:

This is dedicated to my two Daughters, Amy and Kristin. May you have the most glorious and successful life anyone has ever imagined. The years have flown by so fast, I wish I could slow them down to enjoy them more but , time must move on.

                                                                                          Love,   Dad

Awww Henry,
this brought some tears...
Sigh...I can see all that playing by in the future...my daughter being three now.
It goes by so fast.

I thought the use of the thumping heartbeat was very good...it really sent the message home...a great symbology.

Best wishes,
Pamela

Oh how very beautiful and sweet this is Henry. Your daughters are very blessed to have you as a Dad, and I am sure they know that too!

Beautifully written as only a Daddy could do.

Oh wow, Henry! Yeah, this gave me a lump in my throat! Seems that their lives DO pass by just that fast, too...Joe's a nut, by the way...
Loved this...Hang in there, Dad...with leadership like yours, I know that they will certainly have a great start on incredible futures.
Hugs...Glata
