Simple Woman

I wish I had fancy words,
knew the way to place them here,
in this letter to you, I write.
I just seem to ramble on,
spilling secrets of myself,
casting a dream net,
and being the simple woman I am.
Hoping, a bold  risk,
that it will suffice.
I would love to be able
to make your eyes smile
and your heart feel light.
I tell you about my simple days;
my mediocre words,
my mediocre life.
And wonder why, you have not
taken flight, for something
more stimulating and
sweeter.
I hold so many words here,
stymied by feeling,
searching, but at a loss.
And hoping, that simple,
in words and woman,
will be enough.

Barbie -  After thirty years with my wife, it is interesting how often these feelings of insecurity emerge, never feeling that what you are or have is "enough".  Sometimes simplicity, if that is the actual case, is more than enough.  That you're able to write it so clearly proves, in simplicity, you are not.

The plainess of the language matches your assertions until the syntax in the last sentence assembles them in a potent strike. I suppose you considered using sweet rather than sweeter in that one line.

Dear Barb-
Simplicity allows us to view with a vision that
most do not have the depth for-
For what most see is the plastic portrait that
optical enhancement displays-
So I enjoyed this piece for your insight of being
no more than a simple writer sharing whispers you hear-
Best Wishes to You and Yours My friend~
Peace~
James

I am sure that he is well pleased with all that you are and appreciates it very much. Maybe even more than you realize. Great job on your poem.

Anyone that gets to know you, sister, will love you and find you anything but "simple." You are a treasure, hon. Any man is blessed to have you love him. How could he ever leave you behind?
Hugs and love ya....

There are those that feel the need to be challenged by a woman who is more provocative, but I find that a woman who is less complicated posesses more honesty and heart. And to me it's all about HEART, that is the best attribute a woman or a man can have. This poem was exactly that Barbie, honest and heart filled, great work. Henry

Well - perhaps you know that in face to face communication 90% of the meaning is carried by the non-verbal messages. Anyway this poem proves that you have the words as well.

All that glitters is not gold. Glittering words often have no meaning..I'll take plain spoken truth over fancy word structure, anytime, darlin'''..Heartfelt and honest...The highest calling of a worfsmith, in my book...len

Nothing more beautiful than a natural woman. A person who is just simply herself.
