First Love.

The world may seem such a bitter place
After a lovers quarrel has forsaken grace
No words can ease the aching pain
That carress your heart like falling rain

Tears creep slowly from soft brown eyes
Hindered only by stifled sighs
A heart is breaking in an innocents breast
Emotions tearing at what is left

That first love born so pure and sweet
The glancing softness as their eyes first meet
Theres nothing on earth that can compare
To the warmth and joy first lovers share

Those uttered words of love undying
Believed in spirit, their truth belying
The thrill and elation, from that very first kiss
An erratic heartbeat that threatens to miss

I know it does'nt help to say
We've all at some time felt this way
But given time the, the pain will fade
A lesson learnt or even made

All these things and many more
That thrill you to your very core
They are not lost, you'll love again
Though never ever quite the same
Be strong yet patient, like the dove
You can and will survive first love.

It is hard to believe a person can get past the pain but they certainly can...and we do it all again. You've said it well.

I remember well that first love...and the first quarrel...and the first break up. You've described it so perfectly here!
Loved this...Hugs to ya!

Graham, I stopped by to catch up on your work. I can see you are still filling these pages with beautiful pieces. This one is just so endearing. Loved every word. Great lesson on first loves and losses.

SIR GRAHAM, THAT FIRST LOVE IS THE MOST PRECIOUS OF ALL ..AND THOUGHT IT FALLS FROM OUR ARMS..DOES IT EVER DIE IN OUR HEARTS?? I DON'T THINK SO?? LOVE IS EMOTIONS AND THEY DON'T DIE UNLESS YOU MAKE THEM GO AWAY!! VERY MOVING POEM...
