Blinking Lights

Up high, they ride,
going who knows where.
Somewhere, someone going somewhere.
Blinking lights remind me that love
and the sweet taste of you,
the feel of your arms around me,
is only a few hours away.
Comforting, and yet  misery invites herself on in.
The way she always does when she sees me standing here alone,
heaving emptiness onto new grass,
heart flopping about on the ground; a trout out of water.
She wants to drink coffee with me this morning,
But I have nothing to say to her....she leaves me cold.
It is you that I share my thoughts with everyday.

Lights fade, as the distance between those someones are bridged.
I stand here and watch them disappear,
feel  how empty my arms are, how full my heart is.
Casting  thoughts into a pink  river of morning,
and remembering when those someones were us.

Memories certainly do have a way of grabbing on and taking hold, turning beauty into lonesome, as misery moves in. A tender and special work, written from the heart. A pleaure to have shared this moment. Thank you. ~Pam

Like Pam said Up the Down then back Up just like life is for sure. We always seem to be on a roller coaster to somewhere--or is it actually going nowhere? We always seem to get off at the same place that we got on at just like the ones at the county fair. This one really got me thinking, and I sure did enjoy it--could you tell by my comment?

"heart flopping about on the ground; a trout out of water." What a great image that is...The frustrarion and sense of loss are very strong in this, Sal...len
