Hand Over Hand

Why does the heart still ache
For something the mind knows
It cannot have
In any moment when there’s time enough to ponder
Thoughts turn to the one situation
Never to be
It takes up the moments between concentration
Fills the mind
And the body and soul
It seeps into the smallest spaces available
And it hurts from the inside
Love can burn
Worse than any harsh word
And the fear of loss
Is far greater
Than anything else
However how can you lose
What you’ve never had
I begin to take myself to pieces
Sitting beside him
On the couch
When his hand closes over mine
And every things ok

Sometimes just a touch is all it takes. Nicely written, Joe
