The Man I See
o

The Man I See

There was a time
Not long ago
Your true self
You would not show

Distance kept
With reasons why
The coldness met
We could not be

So you fled north
And I to south
We turned our backs
We walked away

It took us turning
From the other
Time to ponder
All it means

Discovered only
Persistent tugging
Upon the soul
Was love it seems

Walls have crumbled
Hearts have met
Your voice so tender
It's heaven sent

Now I look into
Deep brown eyes
I see the heart
You once disguised

The shell is broken
You show me you
The heart so precious
I always knew

You tried to hide
You were afraid
Wounded; guarded
Hope betrayed

Yet shadow lifted
It was to be
Bright reflection
The man I see

Great write I enjoyed reading it very much :)

Sometimes an ice block needs a warm fire to melt and feel the warmth of somebody.

We all seem to hide true emotions, until we can really trust someone.

Excellant poem Cindy,

Thank goodness for that tugging upon the soul! You know how persistant love can be...and man, is that ever a good thing huh!

I loved how this situation turned around. I'm clapping because I just love a happy ending! =))

Another tightly written poem. You seem on a roll these days. I think some people fear that exposure in a relationship that might threaten safety and security. God only knows a poet can't be like that. That goes against the grain or putting it all out there for people to critique and judge. Enjoyed the write.

Beautiful poetry Cindy! Sometimes we don't see what is right before our eyes, we fight what we really feel. I hope you have found the love you have sought. Henry

It is sad that so many people "fight" love. That is something I will never understand. When walls are let down, its amazing how one can look into another soul...that is when they really get to know one another. Seems like it takes forever to find this in a person....what a beautiful poem...
