I Must Be Superman
I must be superman,
For I can see right through you.
As you walk on by,
Surrounded only by walls.
Day by day,
Brick by brick.
How much taller can it get,
Before life sends the wind,
And your walls collapse?
I must be superman,
For I can hear right through your laughs.
Yet your eyes show only sorrow.
And the waterfall within,
Becomes too strong to hold back.
But with each crack in the wall,
You build another brick.
It does not give you strength,
But only makes you weak.
Maybe some day you will see.
When that bitter-sweet day comes,
I will stand right by you.
When you allow your walls to fall,
And your river to freely flow,
I will hold out my hand,
To make sure you won't drown.
I must be superman,
Though I secretly am not.
But for you my friend,
I must be superman.

okay, i wrote my comment then went to add this to my favorites list, so now i'm re-writing the comment!  it's not hard to do in this case, though - this is an incredible work.  the way that you connected superman's powers/skills/whatever to the meaning of a true friend couldn't be more appropriate.  you've described to perfection how that true friend can see and know things about us that we may be totally blind to....excellent work

Serenity,

People are paper, and no matter how hard they try, they cannot hide their true feelings.

I am impressed with this write because you've happened to title a sixth sense in us all that we couldn't find something to call.

Sincerely,

D. Rojas
