The Calming Thoughts of All.

You can't look at me, can you?

And you can't deny that something's wrong.

We're living,

always dying

and i've got the feeling

i know what's going on.

It's strange that we should be together

this way.

I never thought i'd see your face again.

Now i'll do nothing but listen...

I hear the sound of love...

The sound of the human voice...

The sounds of the city ~

cut by bitterness, anger, pity, and lust...

And i lose my breath...

I hear pallid lips pronouncing death.

You can't look at me anymore.

You don't want to lose your pride

by falling back into a life

 where you once was before...

Although it's been so long,

you can't deny that something's wrong.

We're living,

always dying

and i know what's going on.

So walk away before it's too late.

Don't come crawling back again...

Don't call.

Now i'll do nothing but listen

to the calming thoughts of all.

I hear the solid roll of approaching cars...

I hear the slow march to local bars...

And i lay back and watch the stars...

And i sleep...

I sleep a long time through the heat, the showers,

and the sore and heavy hearted hours...

And i listen some more

to the calming thoughts of all.
