Guardian Angel - Somebody Cares

Dear Young Miss, I am still hurting for you.

I have carried your burden for days now

And canít find any peace, it just lingers.

I replay the night I met you non-stop.

I was at Nickís talking in his garage

When you came bouncing up the dark sidewalk.

It was about 2:10 in the morning

And you walked straight up and joined right on in.

Nothing seemed odd, it happens quite often.

Being single, I look for chemistry.

So playing cool, I didnít look right at you

But I could see you peripherally.

You spoke in a deep, worldly mature voice,

Seemed to present yourself with confidence.

Youíre a fit, well proportioned lady and

These characteristics are attractive.

So when you playfully started to flirt,

I played right along and flirted right back.

Then Nick saw that I was interested

And asked how you were doing in school.

You said you hadnít finished yet and have

Two years to go. So I took that to mean

You were a sophomore or junior in college.

But alas, you are not, youíre in High School.

And that point, changed my heart and direction.

Young Lady, you need help and protection.

Fait crossed our paths for some unknown reason

Maybe to shield you from unseen danger.

Though I told you all this that very night,

For some reason, I still have your burden.

See, had that flirty stranger not been me

But some sick pervert, you might have been hurt.

But I looked at you, saw through your faÁade

And saw that you are lonely, scared, and search

Endlessly for something to fill the empty

Void opened by your parents leaving you.

You see, I saw my daughter in your eyes,

And I shudder to think of her alone

Walking the neighborhood streets at that hour,

Or flirting with a stranger thatís my age.

See, had circumstances been different

And that nice guy you met had not been me

But instead, some perverted predator,

Their reaction could have been much different.

Had you flirted with a perv, your age might

Only make them want something ďdangerousĒ.

Where I want to protect, they want to harm.

I see a lady, they see a trophy.

I see a treasure, they see sick pleasure.

I see my own little girl in your eyes.

So after I told you of my concerns,

Nick got his wife and we three drove you home.

On the way we told you that now you were

Important to us, and we would help you.

So now I will tell you these things once more;

You donít know how truly special you are.

You are a smart, beautiful young lady.

You have your whole life still ahead of you.

So you know this is not the empty speech

Of a careless stranger, I pledge you this;

For you dear child, I take your cause, and though
I am no angel, I will be your GUARD.

This happens to be based on a true story. Unfortunately though, these stories don't always end like this one. Blessed be the Children...

The "Children" often don't realize the danger they expose themselves to. True, they do it because they are trying to hide loneliness, they want to seem important, older than they are... But they don't understand... Great write, I hope more people read it. The message is great!!!!!!
