The sun burned my eyes as it rose today,
The bright light of mourning, summoning tears.
While fear and sorrow holds all joy at bay.
I hide my pain in juvenile spheres.

No matter the facade my mask conveys,
Behind it, Iím nothing like what appears.
The mask covers me so I can portray
An unburdened soul before my peers.

Though Iím successful, I long to display
My true face and stop acting cavalier.
Will I still find success, opened this way?
I fear I will simply meet harsh sneers.

So my mourning rites, repeated each day,
Strangely ground me as my crowded mind clears.
Still, I need some form of relief, I pray
These burdens will lead to new frontiers.

I hate hiding, operating in stealth.
My wish? It's simply to be myself!

Very interesting and deep write, I guess we all carry these burdens of self
doubt in different areas, I know I do.. we all have to overlook the
things we fear about and go for it anyway, hiding behind a mask is
something I can do well, I'm slowly learning that it feels so
invigorating to just remove that mask and feel raw emotions, it's not
easy - but then life is scary anyway, there's nothing like feeling
