Sometimes a Stranger
and I hear my own voice
to be strange.
Who is she,
that sings this tune?
Some lost woman,
sitting in the back seat
of a car running eighty;
the wind whipping her hair around,
smile in her eyes
that dances through her body.

and I don't recognize the sound.
throwing her head back
her heart light, free,
and ready to take on the world.
No holding back,
grip like a vice;
accepting and loving it.

Who is this?
Earmarks of sadness
mapping out the marks on
cheeks that were smiling
just an instant ago
of one who traveled
fast and free,
while she sang along to
what she loved.

There is no end to it,
no stopping what issues forth.
Broken a million times
ans still standing to tell about it.
Still embracing the idea,
still strong in the faith that
it exists,
at least somewhere.

and I wish she would say something.
Sometimes, anything.
Sifting, sorting,
trying to make sense,
of a discombobulated life.
and knowing not what she'll find,
but its the adventure she loves most.

I would love to know her better..

What a brilliant layered piece.  I love the meaning behind the hidden meaning within the layering of the poem.  This poem makes you think.  A wonderful write, well, like always, really.  Love it dear!!!

standing ovation!!!

You really do write from the depths of your soul and in that I see so much of how I feel too.

Sometimes we watch as outsiders our alter ego's going about their business and it makes us question so much.

From that perspective (being the observer) I have found we should be kinder to ourselves and non judgemental.

When I was going through the fires of hell after leaving my husband I wrote the poem 'Comfort in the Night' in which I described stroking my own hair as I cried my heart out. It was as though the true part of me disassociated itself from the ego part and was comforting me.

Yes, I will keep on taking the tablets!!! :-)

Ali xxx who sees all you say.

"Laughing... / And i don't recognise the sound speaks to me in particular, though you have managed to capture the doubts of a lot of us, yet done it with a personal touch which allows the reader to feel involved. This has it all, from nostalgia to longing, from pain to belief.

And besides that, I just love that you used the word discombobulated :)

Great work, Barbie.

The journey is never over when it comes to finding oneself, you have mapped out this trip quite nicely though and it sounds as if you are enjoying what you are discovering thus far. No matter how long your journey may be Barbie, at some point you will like all you have discovered and smile to yourself and say " That was a great ride ". Enjoy Barbie, enjoy!  Henry

Sometimes we surprise ourselves and discover that we're someone that we'd like to know...How's that for talking in circles???

I love each and every one of these facets of you hon...You're beautiful.

Big huggs...
