I Am In Love With Death

Love has no more than he can do;

Desire is buried, and my heart a faded fire,

And for Death's sake, I am in love with Death.

                                      Pierre de Ronsard

I am in love with death:

Its beauty beyond a reproductive source,

It cannot be traced to biology,

Past concern, past hope, past doubt

toward Him I yearn.

The world has been mapped,

The soul photographed

in the fury of ten thousand generations.

Might it stop now it’s drowned,

This bloated body long ago

pulled to shore, past revival.

I can hear the torment of millions,

Flesh to flesh the hour has come,

It’s gone past even love.

Author's Notes:
I am well aware this isn't lady's poetry, but I just can't bear being the Neville Chamberlain of verse going on about my love's dainty white hand while Rome burns.
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death,
Pray for us now and at the hour of our death.
                                             T.S. Eliot

Interesting perceptions and an excellent read.  Have you tried on "Thanotopsis" written by William Cullen Bryant when he was seventeen?  You might enjoy it.  Tristan

I don't know about "lady's poetry"
I understand fully the attraction for death has a fascination all of its own....It is the portal to a different state of being that none of us fully understands and so it has a mysterious quality about it.
I have seen many, many people die in my role as a nurse and death is always a special moment.

Now here’s one that I can sink my teeth into…

Death exceeding love in the end, the end exceeding death in love or love exceeding the end of death… to be dead in love or in love with death is such a fine line, a watermark, and for those who straddle the two, we have creed to believe, a night of lust, and trust in the night.

Death, old friend, Death and my cock are the world.  I can forgive my injuries in the name of wisdom, luxury, romance.  Sentence upon sentence, words are the healing lament for the death of my cocks spirit has no meaning in the soft fire.  Words got me the wound and will get me well, if you believe it.

 - James Douglas Morrison

So few of us see and understand the relationship between the two… and without one there is no other… this is a masterpiece for sure…'s not breif at all, but I wear them, and I try to bend the rules to the point of breaking.

Death is the end of biology, unless you believe in an afterlife. I find this to be thought provoking, nicely done sir! Joe

Very intense and moving.  Very beautiful and vivid.  "I am in love with Death" too.  Its mysterious and final.  But I am in love with life most days.  The Joys and Sorrows and the good and bad.  But death comes back like an old lover to haunt me in my dreams.  Wistful love and desire and fear of  being pulled down. All wrapped up in excitement.

Great right.
