Never felt so far from you
When I look into your eyes
My fear grows and grows
Cos I just don't see me there anymore
Makes my head spin
This new lifestyle that you're living
Leaving me behind
So damm far behind
Used to be so close
So close that we were almost one
Now I wonder
Will our love survive this latest test?
The test of your new life as....
A rockstar

Proud of you
Yet a part of me wishes that you were't
Part of that scene
Part of that world
Where this girlfriend fears she will never belong
Standing outside the club
Crying silent tears
My heart breaking in two
As you live it up
Inside da club with your boyz
Tell me
How the hell am I supposed to compete with that?
How am I supposed to keep on loving you now that you're a.....

Mad about you
Mad at you
Got me so damm mixed up that I can't breathe
Can't think
Can't eat
Can't sleep
Love you but I hate you
Want you but I don't want you
Tearing me up inside
Unsure of where we're heading
At first it was a blissful heaven
Now I'm feeling bad, low and sad
Getting dragged along on my own personal ride to hell
Hating my life as the girlfriend of a rockstar hero tonight

We had dreams
All those wonderful dreams
Just you and me
Don't you remember?
How it was supposed to be?
Sad but true
I don't think that you do
Not anymore
Sad but true my baby
I think the man you used to be is gone
Gone and I ain't never gonna get him back again
Kills me to know that your dream come true has killed ours
Hey rockstar.........

Hope it's worth it without me by your side

These fears are just natural and easy to explain... being left behind is hurtful and so unfair. You've always been there for him and he seemed to have always been there for you... Then suddenly he sees the lights a-flashing, they are beconing him and he withdraws from your embrace... But... He didn't just wake up a rockstar on one fine morning, did he? Most likely, you knew it was coming... he's been working hard writing songs, playing in clubs, trying to get noticed by the right people... you watched him (and maybe even helped him and encouraged him) as he was step by step getting closer to his dream every day. His life is the stage, the stage is his life. What is your life? Backstage? Or are you gonna end up standing in a line to get a ticket to see his show and see the person before you buy the last ticket? Hm, I don't even know if this poem is based on your personal hurtful experience, but... I can relate to what you're talking about, and I gotta say... No matter how great your love seemed to be,  if there is no place for you in his life now that the dream of his life has come true - it rings the bell, doesn't it? I loved a guy who had a dream. He seemed to love me but his dreams were set high and he obviously thought I was on a lower level. Only when it was all over and I was trying to cope it hit me I had been living like some second best for two years, unable to be a star myself for his sake... But there is no truth in living a life of a shadow.
