If Only.
What is it in this world to find
That those who think in thoughts the kind
Which deal in that both near and far
And by design will end in war

What do they hope to gain from this
To pull the trigger, forsake the kiss
Or offer up the Judas hand
To turn the earth back into sand

We have the faith, we could be great
Our destiny not that of fate
Don't think in years or months or hours
But grasp it now this world is ours.

If only indeed

While men seek to plot and kill for greed we are all done for.

Its how we individually respond which evolves our souls methinks Ali x

We don't have to make war, but it seems we like to, huh?..I guess considering how short the time is that we have spent out of the tree tops, it's a miracle we have any compassionate traits at all.Nicely penned, Graham..len

It sure is, hon...and look at what we've done to it...sighs....Still, if one person would start the change, others might follow suit...and who knows what a difference it would make!

Great write and powerful message!

Hugs...

Glata

A powerful statement that again makes me feel powerless. It's said that one person can influence and make a difference, but politically, I doubt it. jp

I think Angel summed it up quite well, it all exists around greed, power and control. Great poem Graham.. Joe

If only we can see the beauty of the world and live life the way it should be...

Greed and power go way back in history and man will never change his ways because at the top is where they want to be. Its alll about money and power. Enough we scream but who listens to us up there on a pedestal

Brilliant

Graham,

Powerfrul poem .. War holds a clutching hand across this nation  every thing that is precious and we love destroyed  back to just sand filled with blood of our loved ones and for what?? Power ...who is really the Big Dog.. ..in the dog fight... ?? We all suffer and we all loose... If only... they would listen..but the truth falls on deaf ears... Hugs ~ Scarlett
