I am beaten, battered and nearly destroyed,
I am not even half the man I should be;
I should be thrown away with the rest of the trash,
are you sure you want what's left of me?

My heart has been broken to pieces,
and my soul is now very lost;
My mind is withering away,
and my pride has been tossed.

You say that you still see something in me,
you feel that there is still some hope;
I have lost all of my honor and my pride
and I know that I can no longer cope.

You still come to see me everyday,
you say that you haven't given up yet;
You say that there is still a chance for me
but how much are you willing to bet?

Author's Notes:

This is the male version, I am hoping a female can come up with her version. This is my interpretation of the topic of the week. Have fun, Joe

A beautiful write. I am not sure I could come up with a female version of this poem, but I already have a response poem forming in my head. I'll be back when it's complete.

I can see where there might be a different slant on this from the female point of view. I like this Joe, I am intrigued of how the woman might respond to this.       Henry
