A Whisper in God's Ear

I flutter open a fine bed sheet

Upon the soft cushions

Of a desirous heart

 Inviting You

Adoring You

Cherishing You

Worshipping You

Brightly Shining Morning Star

Of the Created World

Son of God, Redeemer, Christ the King

Author's Notes:

Besides being written for Ann’s calendar, this was written in response to a love poem for God entitled Holy Sonnet 14 by a preacher named John Donne in the early 1600s.

He is famous for the line, “and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee” (which was not part of Holy Sonnet 14, but of Devotion 17).
