Since when did these self-doubts

Become silent Jack-in-boxes

Springing from latched lids

Which I did not command to open.

How dare they rear their joker heads

And mock me with half smiles

While they bore their black eyes

Into my true inner thoughts.

I will not kneel down to them,

But will fight intently to their death;

Certainly, not mine.

I like the images you used to describe the personal menace, which seems to have a will and way of it's own, apart from our control--- but must be sudued at any cost to maintain our credibility and ositive reinforcement.

Very Good!

mmmmmmmmmm I loved the metaphors here. I loathe clowns , dolls and jack in the boxes..always gave me the creeps. I can see them all popping up in spite of your attempts. take an axe to them once and for all. Wanna hand?
