The Child is Born

For long days past, many children had been born,
but now, a special baby, one who was to know love,
and to know scorn.

There, in a stable, the baby Jesus came
in to the world,
a baby who was to become king,
as time and circumstances unfurled.

In a manger, wrapped in swaddling cloth,
he lay warm and content,
the savior of the world, who from the
Almighty had been sent.

To the east, a star, bright in the night sky,
announced proudly "The Child has been born,"
shepherds and wise men journeyed to worship
him, on this brisk Christmas morn.

Gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Mur were placed
before his tiny, sweet feet,
and with acts of homage, the baby child
they did greet.

The world had been blessed, for He would
buy back, all that Adam had lost,
this baby, later, would willingly give his life,
he would pay the ultimate cost.

But for now, he lay quietly, on that cold day
in December,
and at Christmas time, we thank God and Jesus,
as we celebrate, and remember
