I'll Never Get Over You

Two years now you have been gone

But the pain of losing you Lingers on

God why did this have to happen to you?

Such a beautiful life taken away

Taken by the hands of a stranger

Just one more stop you said

Then would be home to tuck you son in bed

I sat up waiting for you

Watching the clock as the hours slowly passed

I checked on our son what seemed a thousand times

Hoping he would not wake

The last thing he said before he went to sleep

“Please wake me when my daddy is here I want to whisper

In his ear, his little buckaroo took care of mommy while he

Was away, I want to give him a kiss and let him know he would be proud of

Me today”

I rock back and forth in the chair you made

Holding your picture next to my heart

And then it came

The knock on the door

A stranger stands before me

As I slowly drop to my knees

I am so sorry but at 1:00 pm tonight

Your husband lost his life
