My Finest Fifty
My Finest Fifty At first I thought fifty words were way too long a list to describe oneís finest attributes, but, being quick and eager to face the challenge, I started by alphabetizing a list of my best qualities. Too modest to just put together a grocery list of boastful traits, I wanted to emulate my favorite poet, Walt Whitman. I wished for it to be creative and add an artistic flair to the list to show how witty my free spirit could be in free verse. As a perfectionist, I had to look up the word attribute. It is an essential quality or characteristic of a person that shows their manner of thinking, behaving, or reacting. My poetic and joyful nature wanted it to be friendly and generous while keeping it real, honest and unique. Impulsive, a good trait, when you mix in gentleness tempered by being patient and thoughtful actions can move mountains. My childlike wonder at nature is endearing, but is offset by being childish and selfish when it comes to getting what I want. Born under the sign of Virgo, Iím supposed to be virtuous and spiritual, which I am, and also lovable and sensual with plenty of romantic ideas about the effects of chocolate on the chocoholic in me. Itís a good thing that I am athletic and active enough to work the calories off by being musically and rhythmically inclined to dance away the hours. Open to new ideas and new people created my outgoing cooperative personality with a small measure of maturity thrown in balanced with youthful enthusiasm. Trusting soul, that I am, I believe in a higher power. Religious, in my own way, with a serene disposition, but humble and confident in my marriage. My husband loves me for my kind-heartedness and humorous way and he thinks I am smart. By staying healthy and nurturing him to be the same, my loyalty is given. I am literally a natural woman who keeps young by being curious about everything. What else can I say? I canít help but be a dreamer.
