Before the Mast.
A score and ten, both man and boy
A Man Of War, I won't be coy
So many years before the mast
When duty calls, remain steadfast
To face the guns against the french
In crash of battle, to deaths sweet stench
Some by choice, though most are pressed
A savage life it must be stressed
Rewards for valour mixed with pain
And in the deep most will remain
It matters not if right or wrong
To serve, protect, we must be strong
For in Nelsons light, so we are cast
On Victorys deck, before the mast.

Sir Graham,   I always enjoy your poems .. you speak from the heart and mind.. Your feelings so deep as the blood that has been covered on our lands in time of war for our freedom..  So sad.. This world has to live with war cries all the have some kind of freedom
 Hugs and Love ~She Whispers
