Carefree Days

Carefree Days

Happy childhood memories that never fade,
Playing in the summer sun without a care,
Within our youthful hearts, memories are made.

Careless children, self-absorbed and unaware,
Riding our bikes up and down a dead end street,
Playing in the summer sun without a care.

Eating peaches off the tree, juicy and sweet,
Summer vacations that never seem to end,
Riding our bikes up and down a dead end street.

Making ‘mud pies’ with my sister and best friend,
Putting on our best clothes for church on Sunday,
Summer vacations that never seem to end,

Rising early for cartoons on Saturday.
Playing hide and seek until the sun goes down,
Putting on our best clothes for church on Sunday,

Braiding daisies into a ring for a crown.
Happy childhood memories that never fade,
Playing hide and seek until the sun goes down,
Within our youthful hearts, memories are made.
Author's Notes:
Now that summer is almost here (at least in Arizona, 90's today) got to thinking about my summer vacations from school.....aahh.

Oh Man I can remember being so young and could not wait to be older, what was I thinking? Nice write, really brought back memories from my childhood, those definitely were the days.

Arizona summer starts in December, doesn't it??...You brought back a lot of childhood memories with this one, Patty. It seemed like summer lasted almost forever in those simpler days...len
