April 16, The Day Jesus Wept
In memory of those murdered at Virginia Tech
Gunshots and shouts rang out
And so began the beginning of the end
The end to our peaceful deception
Believing that somehow we were safe
Safe from the sorrow and the pain of one mad man's murderous rage
How wrong we were
So damm wrong
Because it was then
When that first shot rang out
That our nightmare began
It was then....
On Sep 16, 2007 that Jesus wept
Left behind to carry on
Desperate to understand why and how
In an instant
Everything all at once could be forever changed
Forever rearranged
Innocent learning turning to endlless bleeding and suffering
The horror unfolding
Before his and our eyes
At last the worse has come to pass
For it was then when 32 souls joined him
It was then that....
On April 16, 2007 Jesus wept
Once bright futures now forever darkened
Fear not
For your deaths we shall not let be in vain
As we join hands to pray
That never again
Never ever again such a day such as this come our way
To do this
Somehow we must change
Change the minds and hearts of those who would seek to do us harm
For in our dreams forever more as we sleep
We shall always be left behind to wonder
Could we have stopped it?
Could this tragic chain of events have been prevented?
On that most hellish of history making days
On that darkest of days......
