~The Blessing of Cataracts: A Dedication for My Loving Husband~
Today, as my tears quietly fall,
I want to thank the good Lord above, for
with love he placed the blessing of cataracts
into the eyes of the man that I love.

Born with the gift of low vision,
this man has never known any different.
But also born with the gift of a loving heart,
he is and will always be my best friend.

Cataracts to most is just a temporary problem,
and the removal of them a very nice fix.
But for my husband each day is now an adventure,
and the future for him seems will be pure bliss.

 Cataract surgery could make a significant impact;
his family who knew this was there for support that day.
Both my children and I knew what it could mean for him,
but what a dream that has come true for him is all I can say.

Colors to him have become more beautiful and bold;
my face he can now clearly see from three feet away.
This morning he saw through the kitchen window
spring-time greenery and things that I see every day.

He is my inspiration and truly the wind beneath my wings,
for he has vision of things that most of us don't see.
He sees the truth and love in all that surrounds him,
and of all I know it is he that makes me feel most free.

Thank you God for blessing my best friendís life,
and giving him vision that heís never had before.
Already one of your best angels here on earth,
he now has a brand new world to explore.

Author's Notes:
I am so very thankful for the surgery that has given my husband more vision than he has ever had in his life. He is legally blind and has been since birth.

He recently developed cataracts at the age of 47 and is the youngest of his eye doctor's patients to have developed them.

It has become a blessing in disguise.

My tears have fallen each and every day since his surgery Wednesday April 25, 2007.

And that was just the beginning.............

He had just his right eye corrected on that day....

On Wednesday, May 9th, he will have his left eye corrected as well.

By removing the cataract, and replacing the orginal lens with an artificial lens, it is giving him more clarity than he has had since birth. To see him explore and get so excited each and every day makes me cry for what he is seeing for the first time are things that most of us take for granted.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers that day.
My family and I thank you :>)

What a beautiful tribute and testament to your' love for Mike! If only there were more marriages like your's, there would be fewer divorces. I commend you both, for marriage is not easy. You have to work on it everyday. That, to me, seems to be what you and Mike do. I am so very happy for him. He is a wonderful man, and though I have never met him, he seems to be so very kind. This write tugs at the heart strings Karen. Into my favorites this is going...Love, Jillian

Karen, this is beautiful lady...I am so happy for Mike.

yes the things we see daily we do take for granted...it must

be amazing for him to see all the beauty that surrounds him.

I would be crying to, just to watch him look upon things

and see them clearly after so many years of not being able

to. This is awesome. I sure hope things go well for him on May

9th. I will be thinking of him and you and I am sending my prayers

across the miles. Many hugs to the both of you. Your love for

Mike truly shows and I am sure he knows he is blessed to have

such a loving family. God bless you all.

Love & Hugs,

~Penny~

Very Cool, I can't even imagine seeing the wonder in all the things i've taken for granted again.  I'm happy for him, and you.  Nice Poem.

Love, Rin
