My Blue Dog

My Blue Dog

My blue heeler had a diamond on his forehead.
He did just what all puppies do, poop, pee, and chew.
We called him Jessie James, but he came to ‘Bones’, too.
Sometimes, Boney James or else Jessie Bones instead.

Whatever we may have called him, he was eager,
Ready to play, chase a Frisbee or soap bubble.
He would make messes and get into real trouble,
But he was sorry and bad feelings didn’t linger.

After fifteen years of fun and games with the pup,
It was time to say goodbye today, he was tired.
With no warning, he was gone and this he inspired.
Heaven, take care of him, I had to give him up.
Author's Notes:
Jessie got very sick on Sunday, without any warning.  Tests were taken, but all systems were failing and nothing could be done.
I will miss him.....Patty

i'm sorry for your loss, dogs start as pets but you get to know them so well and become part of the family, i've got a labrador/staffordshire bull terrier and he's my best friend and cant picture this world without him, i know how you feel, beautiful poem portrayed so powerfully in these words, heartfelt and loving, my heart goes out to you,

I know how ya feel. My dog Richard was with me for 14 years before he was hit by a truck. Anyone who thinks animals don't think never knew my scruffy little terrier. Sorry for your loss, Pen..You will always have your memories of what was obviously a treasured friend..len

So sorry to hear of your loss...it's devastating to lose a pet...they become so much a part of the family.

My heart extends to you during this time....

Hugs!

I am so sorry.....I know your doggie is running around with my chihuahua Little Bit and having one GREAT time.  Oh they are looking down at us with their doggy grins to let us know they are OK and miss us...
