Dark Child

Dark Child:

“All you ever really wanted was someone to go into the dark and sit with you.”

I never sought a candle, only a companion.
Someone to share all of my secrets and shame,
a friend, a lover, and honored champion.
You offered me unconditional love and devotion,
an embodiment of salvation and resurrection.
It was you who struck the match, sparked the flame
that released me from the agonies of misdirection.
You, who have tasted the bare milk of my soul,
rising from those dark caverns of effervescence,
and share with me the nourishment in its essence.
No matter where we’ve been or wherever we go,
I am always filled with the spirit of your presence.
Like the pendulum you sent my emotions swinging on,
and the tears you collect like precious gems,
I found release in all those deliberate moments
of painful clarity amongst both ebb and flow.
Despite my penchant for being restless and wild,
your grace granted contentment to this dark child.

“And your pain shall set you free.”

I loved this poem, full of emotion and you expressed that emotion with a "smooth" quality as I call it. When I was done reading one line I could not wait to get to the next.

Thought provoking - this one who sparked the flame that averted misdirection,

shared the nourishment of your soul milk; whose grace granted you contentment. Surely this was a true friend, lover and honoured companion.  Abby

Congratulations on yet another award, you're such an amazing poet. The
first two lines brought back a lot of memories (and tears as well) for
me, I guess everyone has been in need of someone at some time.  I
have to add this to favorites, I really loved this poem.

It is a difficult thing, to put into words the deeply personal. Ordinarily we must rely on what we know, what is certain and available, if we are to put the depths down on paper, but you have found a way that you can manipulate it into being which, though looks like simple words, is brought about by a number of other things: it is how you link these words, and how, as the piece progresses, we are dragged deeper, often farther than we would wish to go. It is an unsettling and fulfilling experience.

Love ya, beautiful

This is just beautiful, Sorceress. A lovely spiral of poetic thought, I just love what you have acheived with these recent poems.
The misdirections of life can be hard to escape, and I think it can be even harder for some to find a companion they could allow in to taste their soul.
A wonderful thought and a great poem.
Love, D.

It is a blessing to have that one that can bring you out of all your fears, make you found where you were once lost and accept you for just being you. This is wonderful Jody, may you always bask in the light you have found!   Henry
