I'll Remember Emily.
I watched as Emily was buried today
and the depths of my sorrow show.
I stared at faces etched with pain,
still, love continues to grow.

God, why is faith in you so strong?
How did you decide it was her time?
Emily fought so hard for so long
but the Angels watched over her sad decline.

I remember the words of hope
when progress seemed so slow...
Now close your eyes child, dream awhile...
I'll remember Emily when i see a rainbow.

I watched my friends bury their daughter today
and it felt like the end of the world.
I stared at faces etched with disbelief and pain...
They've lost their baby girl.
I hope they'll be together again,
God i can only pray...
They'll hold Emily in heaven someday.

But it's hard to have faith...
It's hard to have faith.

See, i remember the words of hope
when progress seemed so slow...
Now close your eyes child, dream awhile...
I'll remember Emily when i see a rainbow,
and i'll always recall her beautiful smile.

I watched my friends bury their daughter today
and it felt like the end of the world.
I stared at faces etched with disbelief and pain...
They've lost their baby girl.
I hope they'll be together again,
God i can only pray...
They'll watch Emily play in heaven someday.

Author's Notes:
This poem is dedicated to my friends who lost their daughter Emily after she was born with multiple illnesses.  Emily fought these illnesses bravely but passed away after just over four months.

Her life was too short, but it was filled with love.

This is a great write...though so sad.  I hope that you and your friends can find some kind of peace with what has happened.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

Love, Rin

Absolutely beautiful - it brought a tear to my eye. I would easily give up my life so that children like Emily have another chance to see the beauty that resides in our world. Good write. Sorry for your loss.

*hugs*
