Lazy Summer Nights
Swaying gently in a hammock built for two,
Watching streaks of color race across the sky,
As the sun lays his weary head to rest, too.
We are serenaded from the trees nearby,
A lulling chorus of birds for me and you.
Tart sweet lemonade kisses make the time fly.
Breathing in the scents of jasmine on the breeze
Brings to mind our island honeymoon as a tease.
The deepening rich colors of the sunset
As they transform from mandarin and crimson
To the darker royal blues and violets.
Our nightlight of winking stars play tag and run
In the leafy canopy above our net.
Nestled in my loverís arms, the day is done.
The cooling evening air caresses my face
As Iím rocked to sleep in his tender embrace.
