In the interim,
while I juggled adding vital bits
of pertinent data to a somewhat half used brain,
your lives and writing continued.
When I was busy making changes and ridding
myself of bad habits that had robbed me of so much
of my life thus far,
you were still here, pecking away, sending parts of you
your life and mind into this space we share once again.
I can assure you, that though I was not here often, you crossed my mind daily.
Like cattle methodically plodding down the  grass bare trail at the end of day,
heading to the barn for sustenance and the comfort of shelter, you were with me
and I was with you.
I didn't stand at the edge of the field counting you;
I never shoveled words like hay into lofts for you.
I didn't get to stand staring at the star kissed night skies with you,
oh, but I was here.
In spirit, I was here.
I sent you thoughts and soft words of encouragement and strength.
I held high hopes for you and wished you well.
In the interim, I missed so much;
God, but the barn, even the manure smells good to me,
as I come home again.

Author's Notes:
I feel so good to be back. Yes, I graduated, and am waiting to take the state exam to be able to practice. I have missed much, but you were all in my thoughts on a daily basis, and I hope you are all doing well. Its always nice to now some things will still be standing when you come home.  b

Hey Greenie!  Welcome back home, girl! It's sort of like a dozen eggs with one missing when you're not here! We are once more complete, and now we can all sit around in our little "nest" and cackle together ;o)

It's so good to have you and your beautiful words back amongst us! Love ya, gal...

Life takes you to many places on the journey and it took you away from us for awhile, because you had important things that had to be attended to so that you could survive! Well, let me welcome you "HOME" BB!! I have missed you very much and look forward to hearing more from you and your talented pen.   Henry
