Aliele and L’azure
Contemplating the upcoming contest,
I hug the silky neck fur of L’azure
As we soar above the woods to the west
Of our lair in the land of Ali-kabure.
Allo is coasting above to our right.
I’m Aliele and we have been training
For the Dragon’s Harvest Endurance Flight.
L’azure could win if it is not raining.
Although her fur shed rain for a great while,
If it goes on too long, she gets heavy.
She would never give up, it’s not her style.
Cooling down, we rest beside the levy.
Allo shimmers, confident of a win.
His weather-sense was telling him, ‘no rain’.
The small feathered creature said with a spin,
His acrobatics often end in pain.
L’azure and I laugh at his gymnastics.
With tomorrow’s race, we all need our rest,
And no more time for Allo’s little tricks,
We at last head home to our cozy nest.
