The Chain
The Chain

To be shackled for so long
In a chain we made to bind us
Was nothing but a dream
A life that lays behind us.
The bond we made
Is another link
In the chain that will never divide us
And our children
Will be the voice
In our life that will remind us
Love goes on
And we wait for it to find us.

So much said in so few've explained very well how those chains end one part of life but connect us to another while we wait for a new love to find us. Great work.

This is so true.  It all is a chain; connected to everything.  Wise words, and so beautiful.

The long chain of life strangles us as we tug to be free... a honest down to earth poem.. God most of us have been there!! Hugs ~ She Whispers

We often create our own chains and they can be very restricting.  Love should be with us always, if it isn't we should find love as soon as we know it is missing. Fine penning!

Sometimes those invisable chains can be a blessing, sometimes a curse..This made me think of how every chain is made up of small circles, circles make me think of completion, and how we equate being loved, being in love, having love, as being complete. Hmmm..I think you have made me have a chain of thoughts..not sure that's a good thing, lol, but I'm not seeing smoke
As always, a pleasure to read.

Good write John. It seems the longer a chain lasts, the stronger it becomes even though it may pinch a little.
