The Sun Set on a Ruined Town.
The sun set on a ruined town...
I was lost in thought as I watched it go down...
How I hope we don't go down together...
Oh, I know I won't be here forever.

I'm young
and I don't want to grow old in this ruined town...
I don't want to let you down..

I have dreams for you & me,
but I have Demons that need confining to history...
See, dreams can quickly fade away,
like the optimist who sacrified his life to days of hopeless decay...

My skin still crawls at the thought of it all.
My heart grows cold
at the thought of being alone.

So I look inside my mind again
and I work my way through time again.
There will be better days...
My dreams will be realised, but until then they remain.

The sun set on a ruined town...
I was lost in thought as I watched it go down...
How I hope we don't go down together...
Oh, I know I won't be here forever.

Anthony,
Wow.. This is just so heartfelt I loved the whole poem.. It could be a song... ((

The sun set on a ruined town...

I was lost in thought as I watched it go down...

How I hope we don't go down together...

Oh, I know I won't be here forever.

It is great to see another poem from you.... I love your style of writing...
