The Devils Monkey
This treacherous little monkey, whispers seductive lies in his ear,
Go ahead and drink it,-Its only just one beer,-
What difference does it make, - and who are they to say,
What road you choose to take,Your life is yours, do as you may-
One turns  into two, and then it becomes ten,
Soon there will be hell to pay, its just a matter of who, and when,-
This insidious monkey, with his fallacious grin- beguiles him further on,
Drowning his sorrows, on this path of sin, He knows the devils won...
I truly believe in the light above ,
For God has proven his abundence of love-
His hold is strongest, on those who stray,
Alas, in the end, It will be His way.......
Author's Notes:
This is about someone close, that I love and care about, however, it seems he cant shake this monkey off his back, Alcoholism, is something people have come to either ignore,or distance themselves from, due to the amount of pain  and frustration that  follows with it..Its a difficult disease to beat, (as others are),All I can do is pray, and encourage him ..keeping the faith....

I love this!! I have seen many go through rehab and

it can be so sad and painful. Some make it and some

go right back to listening to the "voice." It is sad to see

that these addictions ruin lives daily. I hope your friend

overcomes this addiction. It is such a d\struggle for people,

all we can do is be there and help them any way we can.

They have to want to do it. Your friend is very fortunate

to have you there for support. Great writing.

I like the way you portrayed a 'voice' in this work.  It really is like that for us who do suffer from addiction (all kinds).  Good work and thanks for sharing,

Addictions of any kind are hard to overcome. There is nothing anyone can do to help. It's up to your friend to find his way out of this all you can do is support him when he's ready to do the work.
