Psalm 1196
I've spent the last day wondering
why, O Lord,
why is this hatred
coming out of me again?
You heard my prayer
as I opened myself up to
Your word,
and I am both grateful and thankful,
for my coming back here
to this place
I have realized
the root of bitterness was already planted
needing to be revealed
that it may be uprooted.
Now I ask, Father,
uproot it from me,
purge it from me,
that peace may take its hold
and not let go,
for Your word taught me today:
"Pursue peace with all people,
and holiness,
whithout which no one can see The Lord:
looking carefully lest anyone fall short
of the grace of God:
lest any root of bitterness springing up
cause trouble,
and by this many become defiled."
This root took hold long ago in me,
now its time to let it go
and leave it behind.
I am here before You
giving You all I have to give
here is my praise,
for helping look carefully
that I may see it
recognize it
and ask that You take it from me.
I have more to ask, Father,
Help those whom I was mad at,
overcome the same
as we are in a place
we'd like to move forward from.
May our time here serve its purpose,
that we may grow in You.
I ask this in Jesus' name,
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,
Who was, and is, and is to come.
