Fiction and Non-Fiction

Works of art; whether fact or fiction

So many assume its all just diction

From the writer's life, they declare

What is written they've surely been there?

Creativity is more than about a writer's life

More than about happiness or strife

Inspiration can come from anywhere

To claim it a writer's life is not fair

Muses do come from many sources

From other people, things and places

Not all written should be taken personally

Imagination can be broad and free

To assume someone takes things to heart

Opinion or just plain knowledge to impart

Not everything is about self-emotion

Some things are written just to cause commotion

I am sometimes guilty of those crimes

A bit of flair for some of my rhymes

Bold works to draw people to my page

But is done for my growing skill to gauge

Works of non-fiction - positive truths

While fiction is only made-up untruths

I came up with a creative solution

To label things not related to me 'fiction'

Time and time again, I find the same

Misled good intentions that are a shame

Itís good to have friends who try to support

And nobody's to blame or to report

Just need others to understand

The difference amid whatís personally written by hand

For what is entertainment or expression of soul

Comes from different elements of an artist as a whole

Author's Notes:
Inspiration for what a writer writes comes from more than just what they feel inside, it can come from a wide variety of sources and interpreted by the writer in what they write...  Personal experience shouldn't be the only inspiration assumed by those reading, some of the most powerful work can come from a writer's unbiasised dictation of what is seen around them as it happens.

So very true Joe. "Creative" is the key word here and a writer can create a feeling, mood, vision ect from many different sources and even personal experience can be dramatized to help create the desired effect. Very skillfully written Joe.

And never a truer word was spoken springs to mind, of course you are right Richard, its what I feel writing is all about, but seldom have I seen it put into words such as this, skillfully done my friend and with an edge that all should understand.

So VERY true! Very well stated, Joe...A story can be just that....a story. That's why it's called "CREATIVE" writing...

Hugs to you!

Amen!  This really lays it all on the line.  Sometimes a story or poem just comes to you and is not about you personally.  Great write!
