I have only words

To paint your blackest day with colour

To take away the pain

The affliction that has no name

The mask you hide behind

In your secret whispers

A lyrical masquerade

I do not jump

When silence brings the loudest crash

I know the key to silence

I have lived a lifetime in its footsteps

That dogged me around

But I have never had such a feeling

That moved me like the sound of your voice

Dark is only dark

When we do not allow light to enter

The mental prison we create

The walls we close in around us

And the loneliness like a dark cloud we trap

We only see the darkness

And not the open door I offer you.

Author's Notes:

This is for a friend of mine. He is suffering with depression right now. "I have never had such a feeling, that moved me like the sound of your voice" The telephone conversation i had with him made me think he was going to do something that is what those lines mean. I wrote the poem for me because i have been where he is now.
