LEARNING TO FLY
I'm learning to fly, but I don't have wings
it's amazing what you can do when your heart sings
I'm soaring way up through the big white clouds
Diving and darting, screaming out loud

I'm learning to fly, but I don't have wings
it's amazing what you can do when your heart sings
I'm soaring way up to where the earth meets the sky
I'm greeting the birds as they fly by

I'm learning to fly, but I don't have wings
it's amazing what you can do when your heart sings
I'm soaring way up to where the rainbow ends
hoping that the pot of gold is not pretend

I'm learning to fly, but I don't have wings
it's amazing what you can do when your heart sings
I'm soaring way up next to the fast moving jets
looking down at the earth, this is as good as it gets

I'm learning to fly, but I don't have wings
it's amazing what you can do when your heart sings
I'm soaring way up to where time and space transcend
I'm living a fantasy that I hope doesn't end
Author's Notes:

Inspired by Tom Petty, Pink Floyd and the 747 flying by right now, LOL!

Congratulations Joe,
I read this one before, thought I had commented, but I guess, oh well!
A very good write, well-arranged & balanced. I was flying with you in "Im soaring way up  by the fast moving jets" Enlightenment & freedom a happy soul.
Check out my " flying" not airborn but just as free and light. I think.

Congratulations on your award.  I really enjoyed this poem and loved how you used those two lines in each stanza, it flowed very well.  I think we're all learning to fly without wings in some way or another, but that's just part of the adventure of life.  I think this poem is wonderful, you did a great job.
