A Nation Born

On this day a new nation was born,

words are written oaths are stated and sworn.

With praises sung and heads held high,

America is born of the fourth of July.

Sweet liberty and freedom for all,

for the rich and poor large and small.

From purple mountains the sun will rise,

full rich serenity is our choicest prize.

And now again so many ages past,

the truth is there and will always last.

With tear in eyes and we stand side by side,

wave the flag thatís fills us with pride.

Sing of nation, sweet bell of liberty,

let everyone celebrate with the land of the free.

Stand as a nation, let no man put our freedom aside,

So celebrate one and all the truth of the fourth of July.

Celebrate Liberty Freedom and stars and stripes,

march to the rhythm of joy from the band of pipes.

This days is yours for this is your choicest gift,

so be not sad and let it make your heart and soul uplift.

For today will always be your independence day,

Colin Skilton

Author's Notes:
Wishing all my American Friends a very Happy Fourth of July.
This day is special for all the world and it is right that we all celebrate the birth of America.
So i raise a glass to you.
May you always be the Land of the Free.

Oh I love this and I love it all the more that it was written by someone from across the pond. What a lovely sweet gesture of universal goodwill. This is going to my Favorites.

Thank you for giving us such a wonderful penning.
