1984/2008
I turn, but what made me see?
We used to run aimlessly before freedom became slavery
What made us weak? Ignorance or the bliss laid beneath?
Was the breaking point our vision or what we failed to see?
What happened to reason? Because now simple words make us believe
Is it fear that makes you think war is peace?
Or is it lack of knowledge of the economy?
Blindingly believing Big Brother will be strong for me
And if told 2+2=5 you would quietly agree
What happened to logic and rationality?
They died when the media became the air we breathe
And each lie was a seed that slowly grew into trees
Now we're in the middle of a forest of deception with no way to leave
And if you question our way life then you hate this country
Patriotism is the only fuel now for bravery

We are losing peace, but we were losing this war way before
Because we've been losing peace of mind and just like 1984
Without questioning or using reason we become little more than cattle
Being herded by propaganda to be content fighting another losing battle

How can I forget 1984, it was the year I was born ;)...nice write here, so very true.

*~Gods Handwritting~*

He writes in characters too grand
For our short sight to understand;
We catch but broken strokes, and try
To fathom all the mystery
Of withered hopes, of death, of life,
The endless war, the useless strife,-
But there, with larger, clearer sight,
We shall see this - His way was right.

You are definetly a positive person and have hope and faith. But hope and faith mean nothing if you can't recognize the problem and then do something about it. That's what this is about, education so you can fix the problem. 1984 alos illistrates that point, you can't fix something if you don't know the extent of the problem. I don't think this is as depressing as the other comments appear to say, I think people just need to be more open minded and realistic.

This is a great write like always, very educational and inspirational. = )

Very nice comparisons. I have to agree with James. You've come a long way and the word is the truth. Good work.

Once again a poem I think we all can relate too.
I always enjoy your mind of thoughts...You write how you feel and it is so sincere...

This is great, stunning, deep, though provoking piece.
Your truth is very honest displayed. Like the book, what we think my not happen.
All we can do is be positive.
Good job

So very much of what you say is the truth that is for sure, but what  Jasmin says I agree with. Have a little hope and faith and try to have a positive outlook.  Not saying these things are not happening but I look at them totally different. A very interesting and knowledegable
write here. Really enjoyed reading this.

Dear Shoaib-
One of the things I've often enjoyed seeing being a member
of this site for a while now is watching new writers arrive and then
begin to really transpire into true writers of thought and expression-
This piece you've shared here is not only directly on the pulse but
says it in a way that many will absorb-
A great example of one of those writers who found Creative-Poems then
found their deeper voice-
I applaud not only these words but also the author-
Best Wishes to You and Yours My Friend~
Peace~
James
